I NOW WALK INTO THE WILD

看罷電影，身旁那位陌生人急不及待向他的女性友人發表他的感想。「他這種憤世嫉俗...無甚特別...」其餘的既聽不到亦不想聽到。沒錯，可以用憤世嫉俗這個詞去形容Christopher McCandless，但絕對不可將「他」歸納成「他們」。

這是真人真事。

他說Rather than love, than money, than faith, than fame, than fairness...give me truth。大學畢業後，他放棄他可以擁有的機會，他捐去他所有的獎學金，他帶著理想和信念，毅然離開他熟悉但厭倦的一切。生存，不是為了考一個無內容的學位，不是為了找一份可以維生可以提高生活質素的工作，更不是為了迎合別人對我們的期望，例如，父母。所以，他要找出the truth of his existence。

廿三歲的大學生，好像你跟我一樣，對世界，我們有疑問，有控訴，亦有希望。我們相信我們代表改變，代表突破，代表未來。他說If we admit that human life can be ruled by reason, then all possibility of life is destroyed。真實的媽媽事後望著兒子所留下的一切，激動的說：「我始終都不明白！」他的妹妹則說what he is saying has to be said, what he is doing has to be done。有些事情，對某些人來說，是不得不做。這個「不得不」也許亦只有這些人自己才明白。

於他的旅程，從他遇到的人身上，他，或許我，學到了甚麼是家庭，甚麼是成長，甚麼是自由，甚麼是愛，甚麼是生命。"When you want something in life, you just gotta reach out and grab it.""When you forgive, you love. When you love, God's light shines upon you.""Happiness only real when shared."他上這一課，賠上了性命，但生命沒有了他學到的這些似乎也沒有甚麼意義。

Two years he walks the earth. No phone, no pool, no pets, no cigarettes. Ultimate freedom. An extremist. An aesthetic voyager whose home is the road. Escaped from Atlanta.
